A loner, Liam Johnston, believed to be Britain’s most obese person has died of suspected heart failure at age 22.

The body of Johnston, who weighed 419kg (66st), was carried out on a bed frame after firefighters removed his front door to make room.

Paramedics were unable to revive Mr Johnston on Thursday.

He was believed to have a body mass index of well over 85 while anything more than 30 is obese.

Last year, Johnston was convicted of using stolen credit cards to order four pizzas and put on a waiting list to have gastric band surgery.

Mr Johnston, of Livingston, West Lothian, said at the time: "I hid myself away from the outside world, ashamed at the size I had become."
