Stella Oduah ‘to spend N800m on vehicles’ in 2014 [DETAILS]

There are those who call Nigeria’s aviation minister embattled following a scandal over million-dollar vehicles bought under her watch. According to PM News, they might be speaking too soon.

The paper reports that the minister and her people will still manage to drive in the coming year, as she “will spend at least N800 million on vehicles in 2014, after splashing N643 million on 54 vehicles in 2013, her budget proposal shows.”

The budget proposal, obtained by P.M.NEWS, shows that Oduah will spend N250 million on eight operational vehicles for the Accident Investigation Bureau, AIB, a small agency of the ministry with personnel cost estimated at N150 million yearly.

The budget provision shows each vehicle will cost N30.125million. Many of the SUV brands available in the Nigerian market sell between N5m and N15m.

The minister, who appears to be a car freak will also shell another N500 million to buy a truck

for the agency.

And in her main ministry, She will spend another N50 million on staff buses.

The budget proposal shows that the Ministry of Aviation will spend over N137 million on foreign trips.

Oduah will also spend N100 million on her controversial Aerotropolis Consultants, the city-airports she claims Nigeria desperately needs.

She will then spend another N20 million on other types of consultancies and another N425 million on consultancy of institutional reforms, legal services and commercial.

General consulting and professional services for the Nigerian Meteorological Agency will gulp over N8 million.

On airport internal access roads, Oduah would spend N200 million and another N100 million on Bilateral Air Services Agreements. She will also spend N100 million on security gateways on express roads.

The budget proposal shows that Oduah will also spend N100 million on airport toll gates and another N100 million to paint and repair runways.

Oduah will also equally N820 million on the maintenance agreement for the TRACON support services.

The Ministry of Aviation will spend over N13 million on refreshment and meals and another N9 on publicity.

In all the ministry has earmarked N26 billion for capital expenditure, N18 billion out of which will go into her pet project of ‘remodelling the country’s airports’.

Outside of this, she also plans to spend N250 million to plant flowers in the country’s main airports in Port Harcourt, Lagos, Abuja, Kano and Enugu.

Her recurrent budget is estimated at N6 billion making the total budget of the ministry to be N32.3 billion.

Teenager Aborts Baby, discovers she is still Pregnant 3 months later (PICTURED)

A 19-year-old girl, Shannon Skinner got the shock of her life when she realized she was still pregnant three months after she had an abortion.

Shannon had taken abortion pills when she was eight weeks pregnant but in a rare occurrence, the procedure failed and she continued having morning sickness and feeling movements in her womb. Tests later revealed that the baby had miraculously survived the abortion.

According to Shannon who also has a nine-month-old daughter, Lacie, "We thought she had gone. I had grieved for that baby and we'd just managed to get our heads around it.

"Anthony and I felt like we'd made the right decision because we were having problems and we didn't think it was right to bring a baby into that. I'd always been one of those people that was against abortions and hated

them but I was suffering with post-natal depression."

She added, "We've now decided to keep the baby, as we don't feel it's right to have an abortion at this stage. She's obviously a little fighter, and we don't want to cause her any more harm.

Scans have since shown that her baby looks physically fine and she is due to be born on May 7.

Why These Women Are NOT Happy With Their Vaginas

Women are getting increasingly distorted ideas of what their genitalia should look like, with many wrongly thinking their bodies are 'abnormal'.

New research has found that those who looked at 'designer vaginas' were more more likely to consider them 'normal' and 'ideal' when later comparing them to unaltered genitalia.

Airbrushing and waxing are two of the main reasons why women are becoming unhappy with their appearance, the researchers say.

Many also don't realise how much appearances can vary, they add.

The number of labiaplasties performed by the NHS has risen five-fold since 2001, according to the study's Australian authors.

The surgery involves reducing the size of a woman's labia minora to make them more symmetrical and

smaller than the labia majora.



'The rise in genital cosmetic surgery for women is a very worrying trend,' the study's lead author, Claire Moran, from the University of Queensland said.

'There seems to be massive misconceptions around perceptions of normal genital appearance and I wanted to explore this further.'

Generally, there are no health reasons to have the surgery - it is only for the sake of appearance. So the researchers wanted to know what drives women's perceptions of what looks good.

Ms Moran added: 'There are misconceptions around normal genital appearance.

'This is due to airbrushing, lack of exposure to normal women's genitals, greater genital visibility due to Brazilian and genital waxing and the general taboo around discussing genitals and genital appearance.'

Ninety-seven Australian women ages 18 to 30 years old were divided into three groups. In the initial stage of the study, one group was shown almost three dozen images of modified female genitalia; another group was shown images of unmodified genitalia. A third group was not shown any images.

Next, all three groups were shown a mix of images of modified and unmodified genitals and asked to rate them for the degree to which the vulva 'looks normal' and 'represents society's ideal.'

All three groups rated the images of the 'designer vaginas' as more like society's ideal than those which hadn't undergone surgery.

Women who had viewed the images of the modified genitalia first also rated the modified vulvas as more 'normal' than the unmodified genitals.

But women who had seen the photos of unmodified genitalia first tended to rate them as normal in the second stage.

The researchers suggest that young women may not realize that normal genitalia vary considerably in appearance.

'The reality is that when it comes to women's genitals, as with other body parts, diversity is what is normal. The results demonstrate that exposure to one kind of image impacts women's perceptions of normal,' Ms Moran added.

Vanessa Schick, co-author of 'Read My Lips: A Complete Guide to the Vulva and Vagina', told Reuters Health: 'It's important to understand whether women are seeking elective genital surgeries because they want their vulvas to appear "normal" or because they want them to be consistent with an "ideal".

'If they want to change their labia color, shape or size because they find them to be abnormal, concerns about potential variation may be addressed by showing women a variety of genital images,' she added.

'There a number of books, websites, posters and projects devoted to helping women "normalise" their genital appearance. If women are electing to have surgery in order to match a genital ideal, it may be more difficult to counter those women's concerns.

SHOCKING: Few Hours To The New Year 2014, Man Sets Self Ablaze In Abuja

A middle-aged man set himself ablaze in his residence located at Gwarimpa area in Abuja today, just few hours into the New year.

The reason for his action is yet unknown as details of the incident was a bit sketchy at the time of filing this report.

It was however gathered that, the neighbours noticed smoke coming from the man's apartment and ran to the scene. On getting there, they found his charred remains.



His corpse has been evacuated by the police to the General Hospital, Kubwa, Abuja.
