Saheed Balogun Drags Ex-Wife, Fathia To Court Over Her Refusal To Drop His Name

Nollywood actor Saheed Balogun has reportedly dragged his ex-wife Fathia Balogun to court over her refusal to stop bearing his last name, years after their marriage ended.

According to Punch, Saheed Balogun had once said in an interview that he would stop her Fathia Balogun, from using his name when he was ready, saying:

“She is my ex. As for my name that she is still answering, the deed will be done soon. The Nigerian law says that after three or four years, you can do something about it. If somebody wants to keep my name, what of the new person coming in? This has nothing to do with grudges.”

And now, it seems Saheed is ready to do something about his threat.

Fathia on the other hand is insisting that nobody could stop her from using her name.

Fathia had said last year in an interview:

“I laugh, my name is Fathia Balogun and it’s going to remain Balogun; nobody can ever change that and nobody can stop me from answering that name.”

When Saturday Beats contacted Saheed and Fathia to confirm they are in court, both refused to talk about it.

“There is no business like church business” – Nigerian Pastor

London – A Nigerian entrepreneur has appeared on Dragon’s Den, a reality television programme in which budding entrepreneurs get three minutes to pitch their business ideas to five multi-millionaires willing to invest their own cash.

The eloquent young man who introduced himself as Pastor Jonah, wanted two hundred and fifty thousand pounds to start a new Pentecostal church, and promised returns of 500% within the first three years.

Producers of the series described the recently filmed episode as featuring the most incredible idea ever brought to the show.

They said of the Nigerian entrepreneur, “He was very confident and very smartly dressed in an Armani suit. He was charismatic and extremely knowledgeable of the Bible, and he appeared to have really done his research.”

His opening line was, “Brothers and sister, the Lord has brought me here today to tell you that there is no

business like church business.”

In the episode which will air next season, the entrepreneur defends his business case by presenting data gathered from churches in Nigeria where he plans to setup his own church.

In a tense moment when he is being grilled by Theo Paphitis, he asks the Dragons a rhetorical question, “How many of you own private jets? You don’t want to miss this one,” a member of the production crew told us. She however declined to comment on the outcome of the pitch, saying instead, “Let’s just say, the Dragons know a good investment when they see one.”

Governor Oshiomhole Apologises Over Comments To A Widow

Gov. Adams Oshiomhole of Edo on Friday apologised for the comments he made to a widow in Benin during an inspection tour on Mission Road, in the state capital, a fortnight ago.
Oshiomhole said that he now regretted the comments which had become the subject of discourse in the social media.

The Governor, however, noted that he made the comments in anger.

Oshiomhole’s apology was made when the leadership of the Federation of Muslim Women’s Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN), paid him a courtesy visit in Benin.

He noted that though the challenge of modern times had bestowed on the shoulders of some women and single mothers the status of bread winners of their homes, such should not be used as an accuse to flout the laws.

The Governor urged the Muslim women leaders to use their offices to propagate the essence of healthy living among children and women in the nation and the need to maintain proper sanitary conditions in their

neighbourhoods.

Oshiomhole lamented that the challenge of widowhood had also exposed children to different temptations, adding that there was the need for society to be careful, to avoid unwittingly creating more problems for the nation.

He noted that money was not the best thing that guaranteed ones happiness, “but honesty and selfless service.

The Governor added that if Muslims and Christians were adequately committed to their religious doctrines, the world would be a better place.

He urged the women to propagate the message of Islam through the nooks and crannies of the nation, and to also inculcate the values of honesty in their followers.

Oshiomhole, however, assured the association of government’s support in ensuring that its present leadership made remarkable progress and also consolidated on the successes of their predecessors.

Earlier, the FOMWAN National President, Hajia Amina Omoti, urged the state government to look into the issue of the teaching of Islamic Religious Studies in public schools in the state.

Omoti also solicited for government’s moral and financial support for the effective running of the association.

"Stella Oduah’s armoured cars will buy 51 police patrol vehicles" - Governor Fashola

During the 7th annual Town Hall Meeting on Security held in Lagos, Governor Fashola said the two BMW cars bought for Stella Oduah will purchase 51 patrol vehicles for the Nigerian Police.

“It is sad to know that the Federal Government that allocate three patrol vehicles for one state police command of 370, 000 police men, is unable to resolve how N255 million was used to purchase 2 saloon vehicles for one officer. It is a very grave irony. The cost of average vehicle needed to patrol the state is just N5 million. And with such fund, we will have put at least 51 patrol vehicles on the road, patrolling the streets of Lagos.”

"In spite of all this, they resist the idea of a state police. The money from the fund was in the last one year used to provide vehicles for the Nigerian Prison Service, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, National Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC and indeed the airport wing of the Nigerian police, is funded from this money. And it is the same aviation ministry that manage the airport that we had this very odious car scandal of N255 million.” (PM News)

Drama as 8,000 Jobseekers Scramble For 10 Job Openings In Enugu (PHOTOS)

At least 8,000 job seekers stormed the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) to interview for the position of administrative officers, on Thursday.

The applicants responded to the university’s local advertisement for Administrative Officer II.

Interestingly, at least, 5,000, were shortlisted for the interview.

It was not mentioned how many administrative officers the university planned to hire. However, a staff of the university told the journalists that not more than 10 applicants were going to be employed in each category through the process. See more photos below:

Photo: Job seekers are looking for their names on the notice board before the interview)

The situation occurred not for the first time.

The previous day, about the same number of jobseekers besieged the school to be interviewed for positions in paramedics and few auxiliary jobs.

A lot of people had to wait under the sun for hours to be interviewed. Others sat on bricks for an opportunity to be interviewed.

According to Nigeria Bureau of Statistics, at least 28 per cent of employable residents of the Enugu state are unemployed. Enugu people say that this figure is underestimated.

The situation an UNTH indicates that there is dramatic job shortage in the country.

The level of unemployment among youth is high up at 38 percent, World Bank states. Many Nigerians argue World Bank and government estimates are conservative.

“In a family of five kids, you will hardly find more than two employed,” Chinasa Ugwu, one of the applicants, who sought to be an Environmental Officer II, said.

This is Shameful! Governor Oshiomhole tells a crying widow to 'Go and die'! (PHOTO, VIDEO)

"You're a widow, go and die!" That's what Edo state Governor, Adams Oshiomhole said to widow during a sanitation exercise of Benin City with some state officials recently. The woman was hawking on the road side which is illegal in the state but to tell her to go and die after she knelt in front of him, crying and begging him not to seize her little means of livelihood, is just cold-hearted.

Shame on you Mr Governor! I'm so mad at the way he treated this woman. Wasn't he once a labour leader? Are these the kind of leaders we have? No compassion, no kindness? What a damn shame!

Kanye's call for boycott of Louis Vuitton fails miserably. Fashion brand sells out

It seems like quite a number of people don't like Kanye and they spent their money to prove it. A few days after he called for a boycott of giant fashion brand Louis Vuitton, the exact opposite of what he was hoping for happened. Louis Vuittion sold out and a new record was even set for online sales.

After Kanye West told people to not buy any Louis Vuitton until after January the company took action and sent an e-mail to their best customers who responded in a huge way. The company says that sales surged this week and when final numbers came in that a new record was set for online sales and that customers responded to the attack by Kanye by coming to the brand for the first time and there were many small transactions by people who wanted to show their support for anything that is anti-Kanye." CDN reports

During that radio interview Kanye said "They think I don't realize my power." Guess he's not as influential as he thinks he is.

Peter 'P-Square' Okoye Finally Reacts To Story That His Family Is Against His Marriage To Lola

Peter Okoye in a new interview with Encomium has denied the stories that his family members were not in support of his marriage to wife Lola.

Or that that was the reason his elder brother Jude didn't attend his wedding.

In the chat, Peter said:

That is very far from being the truth. I saw some of those reports and was full of laughter. Everybody is just laughing because the reports are like comedy to us. Honestly,

there is no iota of truth in the rumour. But it’s one of the prices you pay as a celebrity, so I remain focused.

  • How would you describe your wife?

Honestly, she is a wonderful woman. She has virtually all the qualities that every man would want in his ideal woman. She’s caring, loving, God-fearing, hard working – just name it, that’s my wife for you.

  • What are the sterling qualities that endeared her to your heart?

I just said that now. No man will not want to spend the rest of his life with a woman that possesses the qualities I mentioned.

  • Why was the wedding delayed till now despite you having all it takes to be a husband?

The truth is that we have always known that the wedding will come up. We just didn’t want to rush things unnecessarily. We waited for the right time.

  • Entertainers are not used to keeping one woman, how is your own case going to be different?

Entertainers don’t keep one woman? I don’t think so.

President's Brother Jailed For Raping His 4-Year-Old Daughter

In a very shocking incident, the paedophile brother of Sinn Fein president Gerry Adams has been jailed 16 years for raping his daughter.

58-year-old Liam Adams was found guilty last month of a string of vile sexual assaults on his child Aine Dahlstrom when she was aged between four and nine in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

The daughter, now 40, wiped tears from her eyes as she watched her father being sentenced.

Liam Adams, from Bernagh Drive, was found guilty of 10 offences against his daughter - three counts of rape, four of indecent assault and three of gross indecency.

During a first trial earlier this year, which collapsed, the Sinn Fein president, now a public representative in

the Irish Republic, claimed he first heard of the sex abuse claims in 1987 and, 13 years later, his younger brother admitted his guilt to him while the pair were walking in the rain.

Included in the list of Liam Adams convictions was an incident in May 1978 when he raped and further sexually abused his daughter when her mother was in hospital giving birth to her younger brother.

Adams reportedly warned his daughter that if she told on him he would be sent to jail.

APC’s New Mega Headache!

It is a great misnomer to call the joining of the All Progressives Congress, APC, by the G.7 and other rebel PDP members two days ago a “merger”. It was more of a defection. The difference between these two political expressions is clear.

A defection means the transfer of membership, belonging or loyalty from one platform to another. A defector drops his old individuality and assumes the identity of his new group.

A merger, on the other hand, can be illustrated with the political action that led to the birth of the APC. Three separate registered political parties – the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC and the All Nigerian Peoples Party, ANPP, shed all their old identities and assumed a completely new one.

The three parties formally held their respective valedictory national congresses and announced the end of

their old parties in favour of the new one. The leadership of the main parties sat down, negotiated, shared power and offices and evolved a new flag, symbols, constitution.

But the PDP defectors simply emptied into the APC, unconditionally, it would seem. By so doing, the size of the APC has ballooned (at least, on paper) from 11 to 16 governors compared to PDP’s 18 (assuming that Governors Sule Lamido and Babangida Aliyu are now rated “non-aligned”); 48 senators as compared to 58 of PDP and (as some newspapers put it) and 199 members of the House of Reps compared to 147 of PDP).

Watchers of these unfolding monumental political events must be dumbfounded by the PDP’s rather cool attitude to the threat of these defections. Every expectation by the rebels that their grievances, whether real or contrived, would be entertained in any way was calmly rebuffed. It was the rebels that were hungry for a deal, but the Bamanga Tukur-led PDP simply refused to play ball.

When the President returned from his recent London visit, he parried an opportunity to meet with them. He pretended that his six-hour plane ride from London was exhausting, when we know that a politician would plunge head-long into a crucial meeting if he considered it of import to his political survival. Meanwhile, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, quietly ducked into a dark corner after riotously leading the nPDP out of the August national convention of the party.

Immediately the news of the defections hit the airwaves, the reactions were predictably mixed. PDP members and their sympathisers were relieved to see them go. Perhaps, the party will now sit down and prepare for 2015 without looking over their shoulders whether Alhaji Abubakar Baraje or Governor Rotimi Amaechi and their agents would be snooping around for information with which to sabotage the party or accuse the Jonathan administration of real or imagined misdeeds. Now swallowed in a new party, the newcomers will be forced to shut up and allow the APC’s leaders and spokesmen to tackle the PDP and its Federal Government.

On the other hand, APC members and sympathisers rejoiced. It was also understandable. A venture that started with rumours of Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, the leader of the ACN going into a merger with General Muhammadu Buhari, founder of the CPC has now spawned a true mega party, with the potentials to rival the ruling PDP in every department of the game come 2015. It is a success story unlike any other in the annals of merger efforts aimed at curbing the nation’s drift towards one-party state.

But then, I daresay that the real work has begun for the APC. First of all, it has to come up with deft strategies to accommodate the newcomers and give them a place of belonging. How they go about this will be a major test of their strength as a political party. For instance, how will the old APC stalwarts in states like Kano, Nasarawa and Sokoto fare, with the governors of those states coming in with their structures from PDP? How will Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau weigh alongside Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso in Kano, or who will the APC as a party listen more to in a battle for supremacy between former governor Attahiru Bafarawa and the newcomer Governor Magatakarda Wamakko in SokotoState? Amaechi has no such problem in RiversState because APC was virtually nonexistent before he decamped. It is now left to be seen how he can convert Rivers from a solid PDP base for President Jonathan to that of APC, even if he becomes the unfancied vice presidential candidate of a Northern flagbearer as being speculated.

The APC also has to brace up for the fierce battle for the presidential and other tickets come next year. It remains to be seen how Kwankwaso’s presidential ambition will fly in his new party, since he was committed to it enough to decamp from the PDP. We wait to see whether Tinubu will still be able to manipulate the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Waziri Tambuwal, as his favoured presidential candidate, especially now that the North has upstaged the South West.

Yes, and that is another thorny issue that the APC is condemned to tackle in the days ahead. Things have changed in the APC. The South Western media have been branding Tinubu as the “National Leader” of the APC. When Tinubu controlled six states (Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Oyo, Ekiti and Edo) and the North had only four (Borno, Yobe, Nasarawa and Zamfara), he was able to win the concession of the interim National Chairman and other prime spots for his group. Now, with the coming of Kano, Kwara and SokotoStates into the APC, the comparative advantage has gone into Northern hands since they now have seven states.

Northerners in APC are likely to rally around one leader since they desperately want to recapture power in 2015. Tinubu will have to learn from now on how to play the second fiddle.

If Buhari succeeds in clinching the presidential ticket of the now seriously enlarged APC, his chances of winning the election in 2015 will significantly improve from his woeful running in the past, though it be an uphill task to topple President Jonathan at the polls.

Oyinlola denies moving to APC

Embattled National Secretary of the ruling PDP says he is still in the ruling party.

The embattled National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has said he did not move to the All Progressives Congress, APC, with others members and governors of the New PDP.

Speaking in a telephone interview on the Raypower FM radio programme, Political Platform, on Wednesday, Mr. Oyinlola said he remained the National Secretary of the ruling party as pronounced by the Court of Appeal, Abuja Division on November 6.

The New PDP, which was floated last August 31, fused into the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, after a meeting of the leaders of the two groups at the Kano State Governor’s Lodge on Tuesday.

The two groups said they were merging to rescue the nation and its fledgling democracy.

Of the seven governors belonging to the nPDP, two of them, namely Sule Lamido (Jigawa) and Babangida Aliyu (Niger) have distanced themselves from the merger, saying they were still in the PDP.

The four governors whose defection to APC has been confirmed are Chibuike Amaechi (Rivers), Murtala Nyako (Adamawa), Abdulfatah Ahmed (kwara) and Musa Kwankwaso (Kano).

It is still not clear if Governor Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto state also defected as he was not in the country when the Tuesday meeting held.

Although he confirmed that he was at the meeting where the decision to team up with APC was taken, Mr. Oyinlola, who is also the National Secretary of the splinter PDP, said he would remain in the ruling party until a superior court upturned the November 6 judgement of the Appellate Court which reinstated him as the national secretary.

“My position is not in doubt. I have been the National Secretary of the PDP based on the judgement delivered on November 6 and until a superior court reverses it, I remain the National Secretary of the PDP. ” he said.

On the meeting with APC leaders, Mr. Oyinlola, who is a former governor of Osun State in the South West zone, explained that the nPDP had been having consultations with the opposition party before now, but that at the Tuesday meeting, some members of the splinter group decided to move on.

According to him, he was not part of those that decided to move to the APC.

He said, “We had consultations and we have been having meetings. Yesterday (Tuesday), some people decided to move on. I as the National Secretary have no alternative than to remain because the Court of Appeal said I was validly elected. Until a superior court reverses that I remain the National Secretary of the PDP.

“What I am telling Nigerians about this is that I was validly elected as National Secretary in March last year.”

Asked if holding meetings with the opposition would not amount to an anti-party activity, Mr. Oyinlola said “having conversations with political like-minds had nothing to do with his position,” insisting that it was not a sin for him coming out to clarify his position as others who attended the Tuesday meeting had done.

Lamar Odom Reortedly Wants $10 MILLION From Khloe Kardashian Divorce — AND MORE!

Lamar Odom is allegedly NOT kidding around when it comes to what he wants from a divorce from Khloe Kardashian — if one happens! Though, we're not entirely sure he'll just get whatever he demands!

He wants $10 MILLION plus the $875,000 engagement ring he gave her, according to sources!!

Here's what the alleged insider said:

Kris and Khloe are very worried about Lamar. He’s a loose cannon, and he has a lot of dirt on the family and nothing to lose. He knows all about their extreme surgery procedures — when, how often and how much — and the pressure put on the younger girls to follow suit.”

Not only that, but apparently he has a sex tape they made!

So, Kris is trying to get a confidentiality agreement in place, but might have to bend to his demands… even though he's the one who cheated and did all those drugs!

The source continues:

“Lamar is also prepared to destroy Khloe’s reputation by discussing their sex tape, and how she targeted him and tore his family apart. Kris is insisting on a confidentiality agreement to ensure Lamar can never discuss his life with the Kardashians either in print or verbally. He’s not signing anything until they cough up the dough."

Woooooow.

If this is true, it's pretty in-tense! Though, since it's all alleged at this point, we need to keep a sense of skepticism!

Until we hear from MULTIPLE sources, or even the family, then things might not be what they seem!

45-Year Old Man, Rapes 75-Year-Old Woman Causing Her To Bleed But Says They Are Lovers

A 45-year-old farmer, Lawrence Adedapo, is now in Police custody for allegedly forcibly having carnal knowledge of a 75-year-old woman, Grace Asaolu, at Ogbese Camp, Ise-Ekiti in Ise-Orun Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

Adedapo was said to have invited the septuagenarian to his house on November 7 this year under the pretex that he brought some plantain from his farm for sale.

The accused was said to have taken advantage of the old woman’s fragile nature, overpowering her before having carnal knowledge of her.

According to the victim, “Lawrence Adedapo is my neighbour. He invited me to come and collect plantain but instead he pushed me on his children’s bed and forcefully had carnal knowledge of me. I later rushed to the police station to report the matter.”

Upon interrogation, the suspect confirmed that he had carnal knowledge of the woman but denied forcing her, claiming that she was his mistress.

He said: “I knew her long time ago. I knew her as a widow from Moba Local Government Area of the state. We have known each other for the past 35 years and I have been dating her for long.

“The last time I had sex with her was in April during Easter before meeting her again on November 7. That was the second time we met this year. I did not force her into it and I had her consent before doing it”.

Asked why she reported the matter to the police, Adedapo said: “I promised to give her N2,000 which she asked for before we did it. But after the sex I was able to give her N1,000 only. That could be the reason why she alleged that I raped her. I later found out that she was bleeding as a result of the sex.

“I did not even ejaculate because I used my children’s room, so I had to rush.”

However, the police image maker in the state, Mr. Victor Babayemi, ASP, insisted that the investigation carried out by the police revealed that the old woman was actually raped by the suspect.

He said: “In the course of investigation, facts emerged that the suspect knew the victim to be of old age, 75, and in menopause.

“She could not have been bleeding without tampering with her organ. Medical report shows that there was a violent sexual assault on her; she was also said to be distressed with her genital smeared with fresh blood.

“It shows that he invited the woman with criminal intent to have intercourse with her.

STOPPING THE BOOZE? Sharia police smash 240,000 bottles of beer in Kano (PHOTO)

Police enforcing Islamic law in the city of Kano publicly destroyed some 240,000 bottles of beer on Wednesday, the latest move in a wider crackdown on behaviour deemed “immoral” in the area.

The banned booze had been confiscated from trucks coming into the city in recent weeks, said officials from the Hisbah, the patrol tasked with enforcing the strict Islamic law, known as sharia.

Sharia enforcers called Hisbah destroy thousands of bottles of beer outside northern Nigeria’s largest city of Kano on November 27, 2013. The Hisbah destroyed over 240,000 bottles of beer along with over 8,000 litres of local brew called “Burukutu”. AFP

Kano’s Hisbah chief Aminu Daurawa said at the bottle-breaking ceremony he had “the ardent hope this will

bring an end to the consumption of such prohibited substances”.

A large bulldozer smashed the bottles to shouts of “Allahu Ahkbar” (God is Great) from supporters outside the Hisbah headquarters in Kano, the largest city in Nigeria’s mainly Muslim north.

Kegs containing more than 8,000 litres of a local alcoholic brew called “burukutu” and 320,000 cigarettes were also destroyed.

“We hope this measure will help restore the tarnished image of Kano,” said Daurawa.

Since September, the Hisbah have launched sweeping crackdowns and made hundreds of arrests in Kano following a state-government directive to cleanse the commercial hub of so-called “immoral” practices.

The 9,000-strong moral police force works alongside the civilian police but also has other duties, including community development work and dispute resolution.

Sharia was reintroduced across northern Nigeria in 2001, but the code has been unevenly applied.

Alcohol is typically easy to find in Kano, including at hotels and bars in neighbourhoods like Sabon Gari, inhabited by the city’s sizeable Christian minority.

But the Hisbah boss vowed that this was set to change.

“We hereby send warning to unrepentant offenders that Hisbah personnel will soon embark on an operation into every nook and corner of (Kano) state to put an end to the sale and consumption of alcohol and all other intoxicants,” Daurawa said.

People accused of engaging in prostitution and homosexual sex have been among those arrested in the latest crackdown, along with alleged drunks and drug addicts.

Nigeria is divided between a mostly Christian south and a predominately Muslim north.
